Mr. Agamy will be addressing the third session of the Dialogue titled “Trade or Tax – The Business of Carbon Pricing”. The session will bring together a distinguished group of experts to discuss and debate the pros and cons of two existing major market-based options, namely carbon trading over its rival, carbon tax as the most efficient and practical method to regulate Green House Gas emissions. The session will also discuss cap-and-trade schemes, carbon credits and allowable emissions caps. Mr. Agamy will share his thoughts and ideas on the possibility of establishing a national carbon or climate exchange and the development of carbon financial instruments to enable and facilitate Carbon trading and touch upon requirements for fashioning carbon markets and devising national carbon legislation.
Agamy is a lawyer and driven professional legal consultant; with proven track record over 15 years of leading successfully international legal transactions with diverse business areas of expertise across North Africa and Middle East.
Prior to establishing Links & Gains, he was responsible as Regional Counsel at General Electric, and before that, Agamy was the Head of Legal at BG (Shell) & Petronas LNG Downstream JV. He Lead successfully negotiating & closing key settlement agreements to preserve and enhance shareholders value and resolving complex disputes competently. He is Demonstrating professionally with legal analysis and reasoning across legal statuary of regions and monitor disputes before Egypt Courts, CRCICCA, ICC, Dubai courts and England & Wales Courts.
Agamy is certified for “Contract Laws” from Harvard University; edX 2018, and has LL.M, in International Legal and Commercial Transactions; 2012 “AASTM accredited by University of HUDDERSFIELD, UK” with thesis “Arbitration Role for settling Oil & Gas Disputes”.
