Head of Cooperation - European Union Delegation to Egypt
Ibrahim Laafia is an Economist-Statistician; graduated in 1986 from ENSAE/CESD (Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique – Paris). He has been posted to the EU Delegation to Jordan since September 2013 and serves as the Head of Cooperation; supervising the EU-Jordan Cooperation portfolio including the EU response to the Syria Crisis. He worked previously as desk officer for Egypt in EU Headquarters (DEVCO). Between 2007 and 2011, he was posted at the EU Delegation to Kenya; in charge of EU assistance and implementation of the European Development Fund programmes in the areas of macroeconomic and support to Private Sector.
He served at the EU Delegation to Egypt between 2003 and 2007 on Private Sector Development projects funded by the EU. He served at Eurostat (European Statistical office in Luxembourg) as Senior Statistician in charge of EU Science, Technology and Innovation statistics and indicators. He worked as Senior Consultant in the French consulting company (BIPE conseil) between 1990 and 1997 providing technical advice and supporting the French Administrations in charge of Housing Policies. He started his professional career as Junior Administrator dealing with macroeconomic forecasting and modelling at the Ministry of Planning in Morocco in 1987.
