Fernando Zalaquett Sepulveda, Chilean, born in Antofagasta, received his primary education at School San José of this city and Secondary Education at SchoolSan lgnacio El Bosque of Santiago. He is a lawyer, graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (1981). He is graduated in Diplomacy at the Diplomatic Academy of Chile Andrés Bello(1983). Subsequently, he completed a Diploma in International Relations at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland (1985). At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, he has worked at the directions of Legal Affairs, Planning, Special Policy and Human Resources. He has been Deputy Director of Human Rights, Deputy Director of Protocol and Director of Human Resources. He has served in the Permanent Mission of Chile before the International Organisms in Geneva and in the embassies of Jordan, Paraguay, Lebanon and South Africa. He has been Charge d’Affaires in Turkey (1993), Counselor at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York (2004-2007), Consul General of Chile in Lima, Peru (2007-2009) and in Montreal, Canada (2013 2014). He has been Representative of Chile to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization “ICAO” 2013. He has been awarded the Order of Rio Branco (Brazil) and the Order of the White Rose (Finland). On June 1st 2014, Her Excellency the President of Chile, Ms. Michelle Bachelet, promoted him to the rank of Ambassador. On October 2015 he has assumed as Ambassador of Chile to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
